    Don’t be a Weenie….Pledge!!!

    Mike Anderson Chevrolet is sponsoring a Blood Donor Drive courtesy of American Red Cross. We’d like to encourage as many individuals as possible to come out and support this great cause. After your donation, please enjoy a free hotdog, courtesy of the dealership. In order to have a safe and successful donation it is important for individuals to take proper precautions before they donate.  The following suggestions are recommended for anyone that wants to donate. Thank you, your participation will help save lives!

    Tips from American Red Cross

    Day of Donation

    • Drink extra water and fluids before you donate to replace the volume of blood you will donate and to prevent low blood pressure. You should continue drinking extra fluids after donation, too.
    • Eat foods containing protein or complex carbohydrates, such as bread, cereal, fruit or lean meat. You will feel more comfortable during and after donating. Before you donate, small meal or snack will do.
    • Avoid eating fatty foods, such as hamburgers, french fries, ice cream or cheese before donating.
    • As part of our vigorous safety screening, after you donate, your blood will be tested for infections to make certain it is safe for transfusion. These tests can be affected by fatty materials – lipids – that appear in your blood for several hours after eating fatty foods. When this occurs, testing cannot be performed, and we may not be able to use your blood.
    • Once you’ve eaten well and had plenty of fluids, remember to bring positive identification with you to the blood drive.

    Between Donations

    • Give your body plenty of iron. When you donate whole blood or double red cells, your body loses the iron contained in red blood cells. Eat plenty of iron-rich food to replace these cells between donations.
    • Iron comes from the food in your diet. Foods rich in iron include red meat, fish, poultry, broccoli, beans, raisins, and prunes. Many cereals are fortified with iron, and iron is often included in multiple vitamins. Also, eating foods rich in Vitamin C (citrus fruit) helps your body absorb the iron you eat.

    Giving the Gift of Life

    By following these suggestions, you will help make your donation as safe and successful as possible for patients who count on your blood.On behalf of the patients whose lives you will save, thank you for your interest in donating blood to the American Red Cross. Your gift helps others live.

    10th Generation 2014 Chevy Impala Has A lot of Promise

    It’s been quite a while since the Chevrolet Impala has gotten a make-over. The Impala has always been a reliable vehicle among the industry but its unappealing appearance has had some describe it as primitive, and far behind the times. But not anymore!! The 2014 Chevrolet Impala looks amazing and has a lot to offer. This vehicle will be available in front-wheel drive and offer 3 engines to work in conjunction with the standard six-speed automatic transmission. According to motortrend.com, the engines will be direct-injected and includes a 2.4-liter I-4 with eAssist mild hybrid technology, estimated to produce 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque; a 2.5-liter Ecotec I-4 estimated at 195 hp and 187 lb-ft; and the familiar 3.6-liter V-6 producing 303 hp and 264 lb-ft. The 2014 Impala has also undergone a nice exterior makeover that keeps the traditional look while subtly incorporating new features.
